Longevity and Health Span
Live Long and Prosper!
Such or similar goes a famous version of a fare-well, first popularized around 50 years ago by the TV-show Star Trek. The Vulcans lived up to around 250 years.
That greeting of the Vulcans makes the dimensionality of aging immediately evident.
Not only living long, yet also healthy, in a way that allows to prosper, to develop further, allowing for continuing exploration, extending one’s borders and well-being. That’s the ultimate goal.
The currently implemented style of medicine is not able to embrace the realization of such a setup. Medical action jumps in in order to keep someone alive, even under some life threatening conditions, and repair the body in some way.
Yet, what about those wear-and-tear conditions that arise because the owner of the body did not read the manual? The weakening due to more or less conscious habits, up to the destruction of the body as the foundation of the individual’s very existence?
The result of such is called aging, and is being considered as inevitable. On average, people are free from chronic conditions at most until the age of 50, while the life expectancy is well above 70 years. Increasing the count of years may be inevitable. There are howeve, very different ways of getting older.
Longevity, in our perspective, is much more than the mere absence of death, and health is much broader than the absence of illness.
Longevity is relevant long before the third trimester of life begins. Longevity is a project that starts early, and integrates all aspects of life. Keeping the potentiality open, warding off the accumulation of limitations. We formulated some foundational practices, covering essential building blocks for long term health, that may be helpful for that endeavor:
Flexibility training like our “Ease of Move” and other balancing activities
Physiology Optimization and Bio-Hacking available through Physiology Consulting,
including interpretation of blood tests, courses in medical physiology and guidance in the selection of supplements
Well-informed integrative health as an activity is more than just an important aspect of longevity.
And the same holds for the beauty of life.
